Family Fun in California- Guinness Museum and Hollywood Wax Museum

When most people think of a California vacation they probably think of Disneyland and Sea World.  While both are fun family destinations, there are many other family friendly locations.  From museums to aquariums you will find a variety of fun activities in California.  Our family travelled to California to review a variety of activities.  Over the next few days we will share some of those reviews.  To find a more complete listing of our California reviews visit our website at http://www.familyfriendlyamerica.com

LOS ANGELES AREA (HOLLYWOOD)-  Guinness World of Records Museum-

Very interesting museum full of fun and educational facts. The facts range from scientific to sports and entertainment.   There are many interactive displays and quiz stations.   Parking is via paid lot /structure.  If you park at the Hollywood and Highland parking structure, take your ticket to the museum for validation.

We all found the hands-on activities interesting;  they even kept the younger children interested for quite awhile.  Their favorite part was a big scale that had room for us all to stand on it.  After finding out our weight we could compare with with the weights of some of the heaviest people ever on record.  The kids even used their math skills to figure out the differences in weights.  The only thing we found to be overwhelming for the younger children is the amount of reading required to understand the displays.

COST:  $12.95 adults/ $6.95 ages 6 - 12 / under 6 Free.  HOURS:  Daily 10 am - midnight

LOS ANGELES AREA (HOLLYWOOD)-  Hollywood Wax Museum-  6767 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood   323.462.5991   www.hollywoodwax.com
You will find a fun variety of well-done wax figures at this museum.  We did find the price to be rather high considering it took us only 15 minutes to see everything (and that was even meandering at a leisurely pace).  The kids had fun seeing how many figures they could recognize.  Parking is via paid lot /structure.  If you park at the Hollywood and Highland parking structure, take your ticket to the museum for validation.

COST:  $14.95 adults/ $13.95 ages 65+/ $6.95 ages 6 - 12 / under 6 Free.    HOURS:  Daily 10 am - midnight

If you plan to visit both of these museums, ask about the combined ticket rate.  It is a much better deal than purchasing individual tickets to each.
