Family Fun Activities in California- Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific

There are so many family fun activities in California!  Our family travelled there to review some and will be sharing our experiences over the next few days.   For more reviews from California and many other states, visit our website at www.familyfriendlyamerica.com.    Today we are going to review the:

Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific-
100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach    562.590.3100

This was probably the best aquarium we have ever been to.  There was so much to do and see;  we actually ran out of time to explore the whole place.  The aquarium is home to over 12,000 sea animals.  The building is two stories and is divided into different regions.  Each region has a variety of tanks of different sizes.   Each area has hands-on activities, such as touch tanks.  There is more to see outside;  touch tanks and shows.  The shark feeding was interesting and educational.  One thing we really liked was the availability of hand washing stations scattered throughout.  It was nice to have a place for the kids to wash their hands after visiting the touch tanks.  There is a 3D theatre onsite which shows two movies;  one is geared more toward children.  The theatre ticket is $3 extra per person.  Parking is at the parking structure across the street.  The cost is $6 with a ticket from the Aquarium.  You can pay for the parking at the same time as purchasing your ticket.

Overall we found this aquarium to be well worth the price.  There is so much to see and many hands-on activities for children to participate in.

COST:  $20.95 adults/ $17.95 seniors (62+) / $11.95 children (3 - 11 yrs)     A behind the scenes tour is available for an additional charge.   Purchase your tickets online to receive a discounted rate.
HOURS:  Daily 9 am - 6 pm (closed Christmas and during the Long Beach Grand Prix)
