Visiting Rawhide in Phoenix Area, Arizona

Rawhide Western Town is a fun day out for the family.  Our children have decided this is one of their favorite places in Arizona!
Step back into the old west at this replica 1880's town.  A variety or shops and restaurants line the mainstreet.  You can get into this area for free.  There are lots of fun activities for the whole family;  shows, gun fights, burro and pony rides, a petting zoo, stagecoach and train rides, a rock climbing wall, gold panning, and a mechanical bull.  (Some rides have height and weight restrictions.)  The rides and shows require payment through either individual ride tickets or an all-day bracelet (defininitely a better deal if you plan to spend the day there).  It was nice to see the variety of activities at an old west town;  they weren't all the typical activities one would expect to see.

The main street and activities all seemed to be clean and well-kept.  Staff members were easily available for any questions and seemed friendly.  The gun fighting shows and Lone Ranger show were entertaining (younger children might be frightened by the gun fights-  several babies were crying during the shows we were at).

There were restrooms scattered throughout the property;  easy to locate and clean.  There were two restaurants and an ice cream shop.  The ice cream shop was reasonably priced and very good.  The Wagon Wheel Cafe was pricey for burger type of food and we didn't not have a good experience there.  Several parts of our order were incorrect and the staff was not happy to correct anything.  The tables were not kept clean and the staff spent more time talking to each other than helping customers.  This was the only down side to our trip to Rawhide.

Our favorite shop was the Candy Shop.   They had a great variety of treats from the past, as well as delicious fudge.
