One of our favorite parts of a visit to Colorado Springs is the number of fun family activities which are either free or extremely reasonably priced.  Garden of the Gods is one of those locations.

Drive or hike though the towering sandstone rock formations, including amazing balancing rock and shiprock.  There are parking areas throughout, so you can get out of the car and walk on the nature paths.  Pack a picnic and enjoy one of the many picnic areas.  There is a Visitor and Nature Center which has an observation deck and interesting hands-on exhibits.  There is a cafe at the center.

Be warned that the roads are fairly narrow in several areas and there are many bicyclists in the park.  Take care while driving.
