Learning About History at Rock Ledge Ranch in Colorado Springs

Rock Ledge Ranch is a perfect addition to a trip to Garden of the Gods since they are located directly next to each other.  This pioneer homestead is a living history museum.  This facility mixes fun and learning in a natural setting.   As you travel through the three distinct areas you will learn about the homestead and pioneer life from costumed staff who go about their day as the pioneers would have.  The different areas take you through different eras of the land, from tiny cabin to the large and beautiful Orchard House.  Most of the areas are self-led but the houses are on a guided tour.   While waiting for a tour of the houses, there are lawn games set up for everyone to enjoy.  Croquette was available in front of the Orchard House, and hoop and stilts were available in front of the Stone House.  There is also an American Indian area with an encampment (this area is sometimes closed as it was while we were there) and a Native American museum near the Orchard House.  Picnic area on-site.
