Family Fun in Colorado Springs- Western Museum of Mining & Industry

The Western Museum of Mining & Industry depicts the history of technology in mining.  This museum offers an interesting look at the history, and impact, of mining in America.  There are a variety of displays, several are hands-on (including a dress-up area and gold panning).  There are numerous displays of mining equipment, photos and models.  Walk through a simulated mine area.  Outside there are some equipment displays and some burros to see.

The staff was very friendly and eager to answer questions.  If you really want to learn about mining, take the guided tour which is available twice a day.  We did find it didn't take long to go through the facility.  If you are taking children, you will probably be done in about an hour.
