A Day Trip from Denver: Fort Collins Historical Museum

Learn about the history of the Fort Collins area in Fort Collins Historical Museum.  The inside area of the museum features displays about Fort Collins' early outpost history, agricultural highlights, floods and its move to a college town.   Outside are several historical buildings to walk through including cabins and a one room schoolhouse.  The buildings are conveniently located in a square.

The kids especially liked the archaeological dig area inside the museum. There they could use scoops to search for bits of history.  They also found it interesting to walk through the old buildings and have a little "class" time in the one room schoolhouse.  The displays in the indoor portion of the museum did not keep the children interested for long.  Be prepared to move through that area quite quickly.
