A Visit to Montezuma's Castle in Arizona

Montezuma's Castle is an ancient Sinaguan Indian ruin, overseen by the National Park Service.  The visitor's center has a small museum and gift shop.  Walk the paved trail to see the ruins from a distance (you can not climb in the ruins).  The path is paved and seemed to be very stroller friendly.  Be sure to take some water if you will be visiting during the summer!  There is even a covered picnic area along the path.

One important note is to remember to stay on the paths.  There is a variety of wildlife in the area (such as rattlesnakes) so wandering off the paths is highly discouraged.  The children actually enjoyed watching along the path edge for lizards and such.  We were all glad to make it through the path without running into any snakes!

The NPS employees were happy to answer questions and provide information on other NPS sites in the area.  Located nearby is Montezuma's Well (which is free) and Tuzigoot National Park (another ruins site which can be seen for a discount if you show your Montezuma's Castle ticket).   There are restrooms conveniently located near the parking lot.
