Founded in 1910, Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a tranquil, 52-acre urban oasis featuring more than 10,000 different kinds of plants from around the world in its indoor and outdoor collection.  Insider tip: The best time to visit is in late April to midsummer as blooms are at their best. Native flora gardens such as the rose garden are closed from November to April.
FAMILY FRIENDLY PROS-   A perfect escape from the concrete jungle, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden is simply education at its best and most beautiful.  Even the little ones will enjoy running around the grounds.  It’s also in very close proximity to Prospect Park (featuring other child friendly areas such as Prospect Park Zoo) and the Brooklyn Museum.
FAMILY FRIENDLY CONS-
Please remember that although plants are beautiful, they can be poisonous.  Keep little ones within sight and ensure that curious minds and mouths do not eat any of the interesting plants.  Also, although this part of Brooklyn boasts some of the best, must do, family friendly activities, this location of Brooklyn is best ventured in during daylight hours.  Please map out a direct route to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden via subway or car in order to ensure a safe and pleasant visit.
